The active substance of the drug is ampicillin trihydrate; additional ingredients: talc, starch, calcium stearate. The tablets are well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, penetrating into tissues and body fluids, are not destroyed in acidic environments. Ampicillin does not accumulate in the body, is excreted through the kidneys. The maximum concentration is observed in 90 – 120 minutes after ingestion. The drug helps to suppress the synthesis of cell walls of the following microorganisms:  https://homepage.com.ua

  • streptococci;
  • salmonella;
  • shigella;
  • proteus;
  • listeria;
  • Escherichia coli;
  • Pfeiffer’s wand, etc.

Ampicillin is not active against penicillin-forming strains of microorganisms.

Dosage of Ampicillin in tablets

As a rule, Ampicillin is taken four times a day at 250-500 mg. Medication can be taken with or without food. The duration of treatment varies from 5 to 21 days.

Contraindications to the use of Ampicillin tablets:

  • hypersensitivity to the drug;
  • severe renal and hepatic failure;
  • allergic diseases (seasonal allergies, bronchial asthma);
  • infectious mononucleosis;
  • lymphocytic leukemia;
  • breastfeeding period.
